The holiday season is many things to many people. It is a time for each of us to connect with family and friends in our own unique ways to share in the spirit of the season.

While you are enjoying this holiday season, I ask you to pause and remember those who have sacrificed and served so that we may spend this season in the peaceful company of our friends and loved ones.

You have volunteered to serve without the benefit of knowing where your service might lead. Your families have volunteered to stand with you and share in your sacrifices. From deployments away from home to sequestration and the government shutdown, the challenges of 2013 were many. I appreciate your dedication to the 934th Airlift Wing mission, the Air Force and our country during this time.

During this holiday season and throughout the New Year, take the time to look out for each other and spend some time talking with your fellow Airmen. Use this time to recharge as 2014 promises to be another full year of opportunities and challenges. Be safe in your travels and I look forward to welcoming you back in January!

My family and I send our very best wishes to you and your loved ones as the promises of the New Year unfold.
