On Thursday we will celebrate the American tradition that is Thanksgiving.  A time to gather with family and friends, and to give thanks for the freedoms and prosperity we enjoy.  In the military, we have two families: our traditional family at home, and the military family with which we serve.

I am thankful for the Airmen who serve in the 934th Airlift Wing.  I am also thankful for those family members and loved ones who make it possible for them to serve.  You can't have one without the other.

For more than two decades now, our troops have been deployed to battle zones  around the world during Thanksgiving, defending our freedom and putting their lives on the line.  This year is no different.  More than 150 of our 934th Airmen will be spending their Thanksgiving at deployed locations far from family and friends.  Keep them in your thoughts, we look forward to welcoming them back soon.

For most of us, Thanksgiving is a time for families to gather together and share a magnificent meal and engage in family traditions such as football or holiday shopping. It is no coincidence that more people travel on the Thanksgiving weekend than any other because we want to celebrate with our families. Take time to prepare before you travel, and make sound decisions along the way.

Please enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday to the fullest, and thank you, once again, for all you do.
