Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve seeks nominations for Minnesota state chair

Minnesota Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (MN-ESGR) announces its formal search for the next State Chair. This is an official Department of Defense volunteer position. The State Chair will serve at the pleasure of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Reserve Affairs. The position carries a three-year term and the protocol rank of a military two-star flag officer. The ESGR State Chair will provide leadership and vision for a team of more than 120 dedicated volunteers across the State of Minnesota.

ESGR was established in 1972 to develop and maintain employer support for Guard and Reserve service. ESGR advocates relevant initiatives, recognizes outstanding support, increases awareness of applicable laws - particularly the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act, and resolves conflicts between service members and employers. Paramount to ESGR's mission is encouraging employment of Guardsmen and Reservists, who bring integrity, global perspective and proven leadership to the civilian workforce.

Proven leaders, who are interested and meet qualifying skills for the State Chair position, are encouraged to apply. All applications will be considered with the top five applicants being invited to an interview by the selection committee. The selectee must have: The ability to motivate, organize and direct a statewide organization comprised of volunteers; the skills to set priorities, develop and implement programs and policies that lead to successful completion of the priorities; the ability to represent Minnesota ESGR to the state's employers, general public, senior military leaders and elected officials at national, state and local levels; and the personal time to be effective in the position of State Chair.

To be considered for selection by the Search Committee, each interested candidate should submit their Nomination Package, to include the following items:
1. Biography or Resume.
2. A letter stating the applicants willingness to accept the position, reason(s) for interest in serving, and thoughts and plan for leading the Minnesota ESGR state field committee.
3. Other supporting materials, as appropriate (recommendations, photos, etc.).

ESGR operates through a network of thousands of volunteers nationwide and in all state field offices.
