AFA awards dinner set for March 15 Published Feb. 24, 2014 By Rawlings Chapter Air Force Association ST PAUL MINN-- -- The Twin Cities Rawlings Chapter of the Air Force Association holds its annual Air Force Awards Dinner 6:30 PM, Saturday, March 15 at Town & Country Club in St. Paul. Hubbard Broadcasting is the primary sponsor of the event. Video of the event is likely to be televised on that evening's 10 PM Eyewitness News in the Twin Cities. Dinner reservations can be made on www.mnafa.org. Craig McKinley - a former 4-star general and Chief of the National Guard Bureau - has committed to be the event's headline speaker. He will also visit the 133rd Air Wing, which has Air National Guard training exercises March 15 and 16. US Senator Amy Klobuchar is scheduled to attend the dinner and speak to the awardees. The Rawlings Chapter Awards Dinner honors excellence of local airmen and airwomen in the Twin Cities. It recognizes the best in local units of JROTC, ROTC, the Air National Guard 133rd Airlift Wing and the Air Force Reserve's 934th Airlift Wing. USA Today will announce its choice for Twin Cities Teacher of the Year, as well. The General EW Rawlings Chapter is a charitable, veterans organization at the center of the veterans community in the Twin Cities. It raises and expends thousands of dollars each year to support aerospace education at the University of St. Thomas and the University of Minnesota. Rawlings Chapter spends upwards of $10,000 each year for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) studies in 100 local primary and secondary classrooms. The Chapter is a longtime financial supporter of Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans (MACV) and many other local veterans charities. It financially assists US Air Force families. It recognizes, honors and supports Air Force programs through the Twin Cities.
