Senior Master Sergeant Peter A. DeSanctis, Avionics Guidance and Control Systems Specialist, is the 934th Airlift Wing's Senior Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year for 2013.

DeSanctis' leadership enabled the successful transport of over 5,800 passengers, 3,400 tons of cargo and evacuation of 370 medical patients. His technical skill and leadership was instrumental in generating 950 combat sorties supporting Operation Enduring Freedom/Horn of Africa.

As a deployed Flight Chief, DeSanctis managed 58 personnel and was the facility manager of 13 buildings. He melded 58 technicians encompassing nine AFSCs into a highly performing team with a 99.5 percent mission effectiveness rate.

DeSanctis is also the vice commander of American Legion Post #121 in River Falls, Wisc., and volunteered over 1000 hours on a steering committee to raise $400,000 for the Veterans Memorial Project.

"Receiving this award is an honor for me, and it could not have been accomplished without being surrounded by all the great individuals I work with here in Avionics and throughout maintenance," said DeSanctis.
