Senior Master Sergeant Donald W. Scott, First Sergeant, 934th Developmental Training Flight, is the 934th Airlift Wing's First Sergeant of the Year for 2013. First Sergeant Scott was selected by his fellow first sergeants of the 934th AW as the First Sergeant of the Year. While serving as the 934th Maintenance Squadron first sergeant, he served as the enlisted advisor for over 170 maintainers representing 13 diverse career fields, the largest enlisted force on the base. He was also instrumental in the selection of the 934th Maintenance Group as the winner of 2012 AFRC Maintenance Effectiveness Award. He was responsible for the deployment of 75 maintainers with zero personnel discrepancies upon arrival.

He was the intregal orchestrator of a Re-Bluing program to re-install Air Force core values presented at the 934th's annual Enlisted Workshop. He was also handpicked by 934th AW leadership to lead the Developmental Training Flight. He completed a three-week  survival course with emphasis on advanced weapons retention and hand-to-hand combat. Scott reaches out to his home community by delivering food to homebound citizens in the most crime-ridden neighborhoods in Chicago.

"The job of being a first sergeant has been the most rewarding job I have had in the Air Force, as I'm sure it is for all the 'diamond-wearers,' said Scott. "Being named First Sergeant of the Year is a humbling experience. I only got here because of the great commanders and the Airmen they command. After being a first sergeant for ten years, I can only hope that I served them well, and made a small impact on their lives."
