Iver Anderson, a World War II Coast Guard veteran, was invited to Minneapolis-St. Paul Air Reserve Station, Minn., Dec. 10, 2017, to speak to service members about his experiences during the war. His speech was part of a development opportunity for service members stationed here. According to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Anderson is one of 16 million Americans who served during the war and only one of approximately 558,000 who is still alive today. First-hand accounts of military operations during that time period are a valuable resource that provide a more meaningful insight into the foundations of our current military enterprise. (U.S. Air Force Photo by Staff Sgt.
