The Air Force Reserve Command conducted a change of command ceremony for the Force Generation Center on Robins Air Force Base, Georgia, July 15.

Brig. Gen. Matthew J. Burger relinquished command of the Force Generation Center to Brig. Gen. Stacey L. Scarisbrick with Maj. Gen. John “Jay” Flournoy Jr., presiding over the ceremony.

The Force Generation Center is the single organization responsible for generating Air Force Reserve forces by leveraging Reserve strategic capability to meet operational needs in support of global force management. The FGC performs all aspects of force generation to include oversight, visibility, and accountability of about 70,000 Air Force Reserve forces. The commander’s span of control extends from the individual Reservist to entire combat capable units, supporting a broad array of organizations from Air Force units to joint exercises and combatant commands, through all stages of activation from volunteerism up to and including full mobilization.

In the opening remarks, Flournoy said that Burger brings an incredible amount of leadership, experience and foresight to every role he takes on.

Burger is moving on to become Director of Air, Space and Information Operations, for AFRC. His responsibilities will include directing Reserve operations for 69 reserve flying units and 10 operational space units gained by eight major commands to fulfill commitments in support of U.S. national objectives. The directorate oversees all Reserve operational assets and capabilities to include tactical fighter, aerial refueling, strategic airlift, special operations, combat rescue, hurricane surveillance, aeromedical evacuation, aerial spray and modular airborne fire-fighting capability.

“I’ve gotten to see some incredible work from the men and women working in the FGC,” said Burger. “We are now better able to take care of Airmen getting them ready and to the fight as a joint force in a highly contested environment.”

He said his confidence that the team would continue their excellent work refining the process of deploying Airmen under their new leader.

Scarisbrick previously served as the Director of Staff for Logistics, Engineering and Force Protection, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, the Pentagon, Arlington, Virginia. She assisted the Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics, Engineering and Force Protection in the leadership, management and integration of Air Force logistics readiness, aircraft, munitions and missile maintenance, civil engineering and security forces.

She set policy and prepared budget estimates that reflect enhancements to productivity, combat readiness and quality of life for Airmen.

“We bring great leaders and continue to hire the best of the best,” said Flournoy. “I can tell you we are hiring a phenomenal officer and leader.”

Scarisbrick said she had experienced firsthand the results of the hard work the FGC does and is incredibly honored to take on the new role as their commander.

“Thank you for setting the stage for us to continue to progress and support the Air Force,” said Scarisbrick.
